The Power of Women Supporting Women in Business

In the world of business, the old saying “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” I’ve been saying this a lot lately with the intention of building my network. I have attended so many female focused events, in the Salt Lake area and Summit county, hell I went to Arizona last month to a conference so I can meet more like-minded women. What I have realized over the last three years is that the real magic happens when I have relationships that are built on authenticity, encouragement, and mutual growth. Women supporting women is more than a feel-good phrase; it’s a catalyst for transformation in both career and personal development.
Building More Than a Network: Building a Community
Networking often focuses on exchanging business cards and making surface-level connections. But when women come together with the intention to uplift and collaborate, something deeper forms—a true community. These communities provide a safe space to share challenges, brainstorm solutions, and celebrate wins without judgment. The result? A support system that empowers women to show up more confidently in their work and life.
Now I am extremely fortunate to have an inner circle of friends who also happen to own businesses. I also have spent the last 6-months focused on cultivating relationships with other female business owners. I have met so many incredible women. I am able to connect individuals for collaborations, I’m able to fit good fits for my clients and I’m loving every minute of it.
Collaboration Over Competition
For too long, women in business were pitted against one another, often competing for limited opportunities at the table. But as more communities of women entrepreneurs and professionals rise, the narrative is shifting. Collaboration fosters innovation, opens doors to new partnerships, and creates ripple effects of success that benefit everyone involved. One woman’s breakthrough becomes a shared victory for the group.
I love working with my clients on a launch or event by bringing in other business owners. Launch a new product with another female business owners product that matches well to yours. Co-marketing the shit out of the offer. You both push it on social and to your mailing lists and guess what….you both win.
Authentic community building can
transform careers and personal growth!
Personal Growth Through Connection
I had mentioned above that I attended a women's conference in Arizona last month. A good friend of mine invited me to attend with her and the “Utah Group of Girls.” I met the girls at a coffee shop during the summer and they were all lovely. I was extremely excited to go to this event with the group. I had bought some new clothes, got my business and family duties situated so I could be done for a few days and not have to worry. I packed my bags and was off to the event.
As I got to know these girls more and more I realized how smart and fun they were. We had funny and deep conversations all rolled into a night under the stars and a night as a posh Arizona restaurant.
The morning I was leaving, us Utah girls had one final lunch together as a group. Midway through the lunch one of the girls looked over at me from across the table and said, “Can I tell you something?” I thought, “Oh shit, this is a take of your sunnies moment and focus in.”
I took off my sunnies and looked directly at her and said, “Oh yes girl, let’s get real!” She proceeded to tell me that she didn’t like me at first. I laughed and didn’t take offense because I got that a lot growing up. I think I have RBF, I’m working on that. She went off about how she was annoyed that I came to the coffee and immediately took up space at the table and directly engaged in conversation. How dare I! I actually started tearing up and when she was done I looked at her and said, “Thank you! I’ve worked really hard at being ok with taking up space and using my voice directly and confidently.” Then she started crying and we got up and hugged it out.
Before we un-embraced (is that a word) we both said thank you and I love you girl.
I tell you this story because I was thinking I was going to have a weekend of business talk with ladies who all had a business. Right?!?! Easy to assume. What I discovered is that you can have personal growth through connection.
The support of like-minded women not only impacts business success but also nurtures personal growth. Conversations around boundaries, balance, self-worth, and leadership encourage women to stretch beyond their comfort zones. Authentic community support helps dismantle imposter syndrome, replaces self-doubt with empowerment, and fuels resilience during challenges.
The Ripple Effect
When women support each other, the impact extends far beyond individual businesses. Communities thrive, families benefit, and younger generations witness what’s possible. Each act of support contributes to a culture of empowerment, paving the way for greater opportunities for women everywhere.
One Last Thing
Supporting women in business is more than kindness—it’s a strategic, transformative act that reshapes industries and lives. Authentic community building fuels careers, fosters personal growth, and creates a ripple effect of empowerment that extends far beyond the individual.
The future of business isn’t built on competition; it’s built on connection. And when women rise together, everyone wins.
Always Remember,
Build your business in a way that feels good to you.
